Van LCD Soundsystem tot The Killers, allen zijn schatplichtig aan Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (kortweg OMD), de band uit Liverpool die eind jaren zeventig werd opgericht door Andy McCluskey en Paul Humphreys. Geinspireerd door de elektronische muziek van onder andere Kraftwerk en Tangerine Dream, creeerden zij een sound die een intrigerende combinatie van synthpop, klassiek, elektro en new wave is.
